Houston VA receives grant from Lance Armstrong Foundation
A $3,000 grant was awarded to the Michael E. DeBakey Veterans Affairs Medical Center by the Lance Armstrong Foundation.
According to a press release, the granted was awarded to MEDVAMC to enhance the quality of life for veterans with cancer.
The MEDVAMC was one of 20 hospitals selected by voters online in a campaign held March 7 to March 23 to help replicate and implement the Pillars4Life program, the press release stated.
The Pillars4Life patient/caregiver support program has been proven to enhance the quality of life for cancer patients and also allows for hospitals and social workers to more efficiently triage and attend to the psychosocial needs of more patients, the press release stated.
