Boxing: Lee to fight for charity
Light heavyweight Mike Lee will put his undefeated record of 6-0 (4 KOs) on the line against Jacob Stiers, 4-1 (2 KOs), in a four-round bout at the Pucell Pavilion in South Bend, Indiana, on Sept. 16. A 2009 graduate of the University of Notre Dame, Lee will be fighting on campus for the first time since winning three Bengal Bouts titles at the university. Harboring aspirations to be trader, he pursued a finance degree at the University of Notre Dame. After a brief amateur career during which he accumulated a record of 16-0, Lee was scouted and signed by Top Rank, Inc. He relocated to Houston last year to train under veteran guru Ronnie Shields, Creed Fountain and strength and conditioning coach Brian Caldwell at the Savannah Boxing Club. Since taking the reins of Lees career, Shields said Lee has advanced most on his infighting ability. Drilling Lee in the art of fluidly delivering long and short punches in combination while maintaining a tight defense will be an ongoing process of making him a complete fighter, Shields added.
