UT Health seeks chronic reflux sufferers for study
Physicians at the Unviersity of Texas Health Science Center at Houston are seeking adults with chronic reflux for a clinical trial of a procedure that hopes to provide long-term relief.
Reflux is the regurgitation of the contents of the stomach and intestines into the esophagus.
For most people, the result of reflux can be treated with medication. However, for some people it can cause significant health risks, including Castroesophgeal Reflux Disease, which can cause inflammation, ulcers and cancer.
Erik Wilson, M.D., is one of the physicians involved with the trial. He hopes to find 15 people who are eligible for the study. Wilson is looking for participants who are 18 to 80 years old and have chronic symptoms.
Anyone interested in taking part of the study can call Anna Cecilia Tenorio at 713-486-1350 for more information.
