Espinosa tosses gem in losing effort for Oklahoma State
Bellaire High School graduate and Oklahoma State pitcher Kat Espinosa gave up just one earned run, but it proved costly as the Cowgirls fell to the No. 24 Texas Tech, 2-1, in Big 12 softball action Monday, May 7.
Espinosa scattered three hits while walking three and striking out two.
Espinosa played at Bellaire for coach Brien Tuffly from 2005-2009, lettering four years.
From 2008 to 2009, she was selected to the state of Texas All-Star team, All-Greater Houston First-Team and also the All-District First-Team. Espinosa was named All-Greater Houston Pitcher of the Year and District MVP, both in 2008 and 2009.
She was named First-Team All-District three times. In 2008, she was named All-Greater Houston First-Team. Espinosa was also selected Best Newcomer of the Year in 2006.
In addition to playing softball for Bellaire, she played summer ball for Texas Eclipse Gold for coach Ken Glass. She is the daughter of Armando and Denice Espinosa.
