Bellaire Marriott blamed for alleged escalator fall

A local woman is suing over claims she was injured while attending a conference at the Bellaire Marriot Hotel.

Ida Davis filed a premises liability suit on Monday, May 14 in the Harris County District Court against Marriot International.

Davis says on March 9, 2011, she was seriously injured when she slipped and fell down an escalator that was switched off at the Marriot, located at 6580 Fannin St. in Bellaire. According to the brief, hotel staff failed to cord off the escalator or to post warnings about the escalator.

Davis is seeking damages and court costs. She is being represented in the case by Houston attorney Kenneth Smith.
