National Student Athlete Championship brings sports, academic competition
The National Student Athlete Championship is coming to Houston's Joe K. Butler Sports Complex on Saturday, June 16.
Founded this year and headquartered in Houston, the sports and academic competition for children ages 8-17 challenges students and parents to "Get Up, Get Out and Get Active."
There is no fee to register, but registration is limited to 500 students.
"Our events are educational, recreational, a great place to meet new friends, and it's a lot of fun as well," said company PR Director Chelsea Kirkpatrick via a press release.
Participants will demonstrate proficiency at baseball, basketball, soccer, golf, tennis and football. If they don't already play the sport, they can pick up points by showing how quickly they learn.
There is also an academic and general knowledge element to the competition. Random questions are put to each student and answered via computer.
