Miller Outdoor Theatre announces July show schedule
The Miller Outdoor Theatre in Hermann Park announced its schedule of free shows for July.
Tickets are available on a first-come, first-served basis (limit of four) from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the box office the day of the performance.
If there are any tickets remaining at 1 p.m., the box office will reopen one hour before show time to distribute unclaimed tickets. Open seating also is available on the hill.
First up is a concert of Venezuelan drum music by La Sardina de Naiguata at 8 p.m. on Sunday, July 1.
The movie "Jaws" will be shown at 8:30 p.m. on Tuesday, July 3.
The "Star-Spangled Salute" at 8:30 p.m. on Wednesday, July 4 features Michael Krajewski and the Houston Symphony playing American favorites. Stick around for the fireworks at the end of the show.
"Forrest Gump" will be on the big screen at 8:30 p.m. on Thursday, July 5.
"Journey Through China II," an interactive exhibit about Chinese culture and history, starts at 11 a.m. on Friday, July 6. Then at 8:30 p.m., Kirk Whalum and special guest Nicole Henry take the stage as part of Whalum's Romance Language Tour.
Street Beat, set for 8:30 p.m. on Saturday, July 7, is a "Kinetic, maximum energy explosion of urban rhythm and dance utilizing junk and found objects for percussion and featuring the pinnacle of modern 'street' choreography," according to a press release.
Six performances of "Yankee Doodle Dandy" will run at 8:15 p.m. from July 17-22.
The Children’s Hilltop Festival will present "Three Little Pigs" at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, July 24; "Hansel and Gretel" at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, July 25; "Goldilocks" at 11 a.m. on Thursday, July 26; and "Pinocchio" at 11 a.m. on Friday, July 27.
Humphrey Bogart movies are on the bill, starting with "Casablanca" at 8:30 p.m. on Tuesday, July 24; "Key Largo" at 8:30 p.m. on Wednesday, July 25; and "The Treasure of the Sierra Madre" at 8:30 p.m. on Thursday, July 26.
