LifeGift partners with AlloSource
A local organ procurement organization is teaming up with one of the nation’s largest OPOs.
The not-for-profit OPO LifeGift works in 109 Texas counties. It will now become an OPO Corporate Member of AlloSource, which provides skin, bone and soft tissue allografts for use in surgical procedures.
While other tissue processors contract with recovery OPOs, AlloSource’s OPO Corporate Members work collaboratively with each other and AlloSource to maximize tissue donation. As an OPO Corporate Member LifeGift will receive additional resources to benefit lives in Texas through financial and community support.
“We believe LifeGift’s partnership with AlloSource will benefit patients, the community, medical professionals and hospitals,” said Sam Holtzman, president and CEO of LifeGift, in a press release. “In addition, our donors and their families can be assured that the gift of tissue that they give will go to helping as many people in our local communities as possible.”
Agencies partnered with AlloSource have access to industry collaboration with other OPOs because of the Corporate Member structure. Also as a member agency, LifeGift receives a place on AlloSource’s board of directors, playing a role in the company’s governance.
