Children's Museum to host Make a Wish Tanabata Star Festival
The Make a Wish Tanabata Star Festival will take place Saturday, July 7 at The Children’s Museum of Houston.
The event celebrates the Japanese legend of Vega and Altair, lovers who were separated by the Milky Way and are allowed to meet once a year on the seventh day of the seventh lunar month.
The museum will mark this legend with traditional Japanese dance, Kamishibai (storytelling) and the hanging of Tanzaku (wish cards).
The storytelling program will take place from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the Parent Resource Library. The dance event will begin at 4 p.m. in Brown Auditorium. A film titled Tohoku Tanabata, about Tohoku's recovery from the 2011 earthquake, will begin at 5 p.m. in Brown Auditorium.
The museum is located at 1500 Binz, in Houston. Admission is free for children under 1, $8 for seniors and $9 for everyone else.
