Entering 2011, Brian Friday was a career .272 minor league hitter with 73 doubles, 14 triples, 14 home runs, 189 runs scored and 123 RBIs in 345 games.
Bellaire Episcopal High School graduate Brian Friday had a nice day at the plate, but Indianapolis fell to Louisville, 7-5, Thursday, July 5.
Friday went 1-for-3 with a double and two RBIs in the loss.
On the season, Friday is batting .236 with 21 RBIs and seven stolen bases.
A 2004 graduate of Bellaire Episcopal, Friday accepted a baseball scholarship at Rice University. He played three seasons (2005 to 2007) for the Owls ending his college career, batting .327 with 55 doubles, 40 stolen bases and 98 RBIs.
Friday was selected by the Pittsburgh Pirates in the third round (98th overall) of the 2007 Major League Baseball draft. He quickly advanced through the Pirates' system making it to Triple-A Indianapolis of the International League early in the 2010 season, his second full year of professional baseball.
