Houston Essay Workshop eases college application process

The Houston Essay Workshop is an intensive four-day class designed to allow high school seniors to complete their college application essays early.

The Houston Essay Workshop will be held from 9 a.m.-12:30 p.m. July 23 to July 26.

The workshop is an intensive four-day class for high school seniors designed to help them write their best college essays early in the application process and give their parents peace of mind during the busy final high school year.

Three experienced college admissions consultants, Rebecca Day, Valerie Blair and Zena Taylor, will coach students through activities and writing sessions to help edit and polish powerful college essays.

"Many local students need at least two essays," Blair said in a press release, "and that can be daunting with everything else they have to do in the fall. We expect them to leave the workshop with two long essays and the most common short essay completed so they can have a more relaxing senior year."

Taylor added, "They may still want to polish those essays before submitting them, and the workshop fee covers further advice from us via email on those or any additional essays they need to write for any of their college applications."

Cost of the workshop is $525, which includes additional editing sessions through email or consultations needed until applications are complete.
