Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo awards scholarships to FFA members
The Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo recently awarded more than $1 million in four-year scholarships to 70 Texas Future Farmers of America members.
According to a press release, the scholarships were given out July 11 at the 84th Texas FFA Convention in Corpus Christi. Scholarship recipients are chosen based on academic achievement, involvement and accomplishments in FFA, leadership capability and financial need.
The nonprofit Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo started in 1932, according to the release, and since that time has committed close to $283 million to Texas' youth, supporting education and attempts to improve agricultural practices through its presentations and exhibitions.
