West University Little League team advances to World Series
The West University Little League Seniors have advanced to the Senior League World Series after a thrilling 3-2 walk-off win over the Corpus Christi Little League team on Aug. 6 in Seguin.
The WULL seniors led 2-0 going into the seventh inning, but Corpus Christi eked out two runs to tie the game.
Chris Simon led off the bottom of the seventh with a double and went to third on an error. Simon then trotted home on Coll Stanley's single to punch the team's ticket to Bangor, Maine, for the World Series, which starts this Saturday, Aug. 11.
This will mark the Seniors' third trip to the World Series in the last four years.
The WULL Seniors are Will Aigner, Matthew Davis, Luke Dworak, Brandt Frazier, Matthew George, Andrew Hardee, Phillip James, Alex McCollam, Jack Mercer, Travis Parker, Zack Pearson, Brett Perry, Will Reid, Mark Resnick, Chris Simon and Coll Stanley. The team's manager is Clint Sauls and coaches are Cape Bell, James Williamson and Adam Zornes.
