Girls on the Run is a nonprofit program designed to build self-respect and healthy lifestyles for preteen girls through running. The program will improve the physical, emotional, mental, social and spiritual health of the participants.
The fall program will start Thursday, Sept. 20. Team meets take place twice a week from 4-5:30 p.m. Thursdays and from 3-4:30 p.m. Sundays at Condit Elementary School's running track, located at 7000 S. Third St.
The culmination of the program is race day, which will take place Saturday, Dec. 1.
To register, a parent or guardian must be present on registration day in order to complete forms and write a check payable to the organization. There will be five spots per grade third, fourth and fifth. Spots are filled on a first come, first served basis.
After registration begins at 7 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 30, there will be a brief meeting for the parents of the students on the teams.
