Remodelors Council schedules charity garage sale
The Remodelors Council will host its Fifth Annual Charity Garage Sale Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 15-16.
The sale is part of the Home and Garden Show taking place at Reliant Center and offers a collection of home repair items, appliances and hardware for purchase. All proceeds from the event go to Remodelors Council charitable projects, including work through Habitat for Humanity, the SIRE Therapeutic Equestrian Center and Epiphany Community Health Outreach Services. All unsold merchandise is then donated to Habitat for Humanity.
"We've been collecting merchandise from various supplier and storing it in our warehouse downtown," event co-chairman Bill Carter said in a press release. "There's a little of everything so far - doors, countertops, ceiling fans, plumbing fixtures, stair parts and molding."
Pieces are donated by community members and then sold in the Charity Garage Sale event. Co-chairman Gonzalo Garcia said last year's event raised $18,000 for charitable items and services.
"These people are fantastic," Garcia said in the release. "They save products all year and we receive calls when they do demos or when they over order products. It's heartwarming."
The Fifth Annual Charity Garage Sale will be from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 15 and from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 16 at the Reliant Center, 1 Reliant Parkway in Houston's Reliant Park.
Tickets are $10 for adults and $9 for seniors. Children under the age of 14 get in free.
